Mindset & Meditation

“If the mind can heal the body, but the body cannot heal the mind, then the mind must be stronger than the body. Every miracle demonstrates this.”

– A Course in Miracles, The lessons of Love, pg. 105

Meditation goes beyond relaxation, it is a shift in brainwaves. Meditation is not about ‘calming the mind and having no thoughts’ but rather about creating awareness. It has the power to literally rebuild the brain’s gray matter, the part of the brain which serves to process information. This area is known to be important for learning, memory, self-awareness, compassion, and introspection.

Aside from an array of incredible and powerful benefits such as boosting the immune system, decreasing inflammation at a cellular level, decreasing anxiety and stress, increasing focus and attention, and improving our ability to be creative, this practice is fundamental to our evolution.

One of the biggest misconceptions about meditation is that the only way to do it is to sit still in lotus pose for an hour and have no thoughts. While this is surely one way to do it, it is by no means, in any way, whatsoever, the only way. Rather than denying our thoughts and attacking the chaos that can sometimes take over the mind, meditation allows us to simply allow, accept and embrace all that is to be, to allow thoughts and chaos to come and go, without judgment.

Anytime we take a moment, to consciously, deeply breathe. Anytime we choose to take a moment to connect to where we are at and what we are seeking, we are cultivating self-awareness. We are taking a moment, whether it’s 5 minutes or 50 minutes, to allow our system to slow down and rejuvenate. We are allowing ourselves to align, adjust, tune in, clear out and kick-ass.

Just like we strengthen our physical musculature we must also strengthen our attitudinal musculature. Just like we bathe and clean the physical body we must also clean and clear our mental body. Meditation is a powerful tool that allows us to tap into and nurture the incredible force that is our mind, whether to you that means sitting down, taking a long walk or for some even cooking allows them to enter a meditative state.

Whatever it is knowing that it is readily available to you. All it takes is attention and breath.

This week’s Miracle Mantra & Meditation

A weekly Mantra to support the practice of re-aligning with the truth of who you are. A thought to be repeated throughout the week and the day.

“I HAVE PERFECT STILLNESS INSIDE OF ME NOW. I AM AT PEACE, FOR MY MIND IS AT REST AND I’M COMPLETELY CALM. I BREATHE DEEPLY THROUGHOUT THE DAY.”

This week’s manta is a beautiful mantra from Doreen Virtue’s, Daily Guidance from your Angels, a gorgeous book I often look to for inspiration. This week taking a closer look at the idea of meditation, the science and the spirit. Knowing that meditation is not some crazy complicated thing, though it may sometimes feel like it in the beginning. But simply breathing deep, being willing to be at peace and retreat to that part inside you where you can connect with perfect stillness, where all is well regardless of what thoughts come passing by.

Get this week’s FREE 5 min GUIDED MEDITATION HERE as a great additional support to your practice.

You can choose to apply this mantra in whatever way you may feel called to. A great way to start is by setting some time away each morning and evening, about 5 minutes, to repeat the mantra, a few times and take some long deep breaths in silence.
