“A healed mind does not plan. It carries out the plans that it receives through listening to wisdom that is not its own. It waits until it has been taught what should be done, and then proceeds to do it…The mind engaged in planning for itself is occupied in setting up control of future happenings.”
A course in Miracles | Lesson 135
Planning, controlling and strategizing is something I can almost not imagine my life without. I would have never in the past considered myself as a controlling person. But as my awareness of self, grows more, I can catch myself spiraling into controlling tendencies from time to time.
The thing is that we as humans tend to have different things we like to use as “defenses” whether it’s substances abuse to ‘defend’ against feeling certain emotions or planning and controlling our environments to ‘defend’ against feeling helpless.
When we go into over-planning and over-controlling what we’re really saying is that we fear not getting the outcome we want. What we’re really saying is that we don’t trust that the Universe is supporting us. What we’re saying is that we don’t trust the innermost wisdom to guide us to our highest good.
This isn’t to say that all planning is bad. When we start to release and surrender some of the controlling and neurotic behavior we tend to hold on to, we create space for our intuition to guide us towards the plan we need, and the steps we should take. Rather than manipulating, pushing and controlling from a place of fear and helplessness.
When we stop controlling and manipulating things into being the way we think they should, and we surrender to the notion that there is a divine wisdom always at work in our favor, we create space to take inspired action, and we create space for miracles.
This week’s Miracle Mantra & Meditation
A weekly Mantra to support the practice of re-aligning with the truth of who you are.
“I RELEASE AND SURRENDER ALL THE DEFENSES AGAINST MY TRUE AND HIGHEST GOOD”
This mantra helps us remember that we have the power to release and surrender all that which is actually standing in the way of our true good. It helps us remember that even when we are planning and controlling every aspect of our lives, thinking it is for our good – it is really an indication of our lack of trust and fear of things not turning out the way we want them to.

You can choose to apply this mantra in whatever way you may feel called to. A great way to start is by setting some time away each morning and evening, about 5 minutes, to repeat the mantra, a few times and take some long deep breaths in silence.
Love you,
