Wisdom through hardship

“I am not weak, but strong. I am not helpless, but all powerful. I am not limited, but unlimited. I am not doubtful, but certain. I am not an illusion, but a reality. I cannot see in darkness, but in light.”

A course in Miracles | Lesson 91 ‘Miracles are seen in light

We have all gone through hardship. We have all gone through pain.

There is not a single person who walks amongst us who has not known their own version of despair.

The thing is, what we can’t seem to always remember when we find ourselves amidst those moments of darkness is that it is serving a purpose beyond anything we can imagine.

Every time we experience any type of hardship, we are experiencing exponential growth, and we are given the opportunity to welcome a new wealth of wisdom.

“Growing pains” is what I like to call it.

And while I can admit – that in my own experience – most of this growth and wisdom is only recognized in hindsight, I have also come to realize how powerful it is to be able to recognize that there will be wisdom behind the hardship while we find ourselves right in the middle of that hardship.

When we are able to recognize this in those moments of darkness, we give ourselves space to release, and to breathe and to find the grace and grit we need to transcend whatever it is we are dealing with.

We are reminded that there is a strength and a power within us, that will hold us through it all.
