Why morning rituals matter

The Golden Hour of your day – the very first things you do as you begin your day, before you do anything else, will without a doubt set the tone for the rest of the day.

We often time find ourselves waking up, grabbing our phones, checking messages, emails and the news – all before we’re even vertical – end up rushing out the house, and we wonder why we’re depleted and depressed by noon.

The way you spend your morning, the way you start your day, will make or break the flow of the rest of your day.

Creating moments of anchoring and attuning at the beginning of your day can make a world of difference in how you approach everything that comes your way.

It’s important to remember that  ‘as is within, so is without’. Whatever you’re state is on the inside, is what will express itself on the outside.

So if you’re starting your day anxious, rushed, stressed, out of balance and disconnected from yourself, that is exactly the kind of day you are setting yourself up for.

Taking a few moments each morning to create some of your favourite rituals will not only get you excited to start the day, but also give you the space to start your day in a relaxed, balanced and joyous way.

My tips:

Wake up at least 30 min earlier than you usually would. Over time you can build this up to an hour, depending on how much time you already give yourself too start the day.

After ‘nature’s call’ take a moment for 5 deep breaths, eyes closed, notice how you’re feeling, how you’re breathing. Taking a moment to observe your emotional state. I like sitting down for my full meditation practice, usually about 10 to 15 minutes of deep breath, deep presence and tuning in to where I am at and what I need. Get grateful! take a moment to write out 3 things you’re so grateful for, starting your day with gratitude will set you up in great mood and ready to receive more things to be grateful for.

(all of this might take about 10 minutes)

I love incorporating essential oils in the process, it’s such a fun, and decadent way to take a moment to acknowledge what you need or where you’re at – for instance, using Balance blend every morning before my meditation, and throughout the day to keep be grounded and present.

And the rest is whatever else feels good – after this I have my coffee, put on a podcast or audio book as I start my day by texting the people I love, go over my to do list, and notifications.

Maybe you walk the dog and get some fresh air, or have some tea and read the news.

But the point here is to realise that when you start your day from a place of power, balance, grounding, feeling good, and connected to yourself, this is exactly what your inviting into the rest of your day – and whatever else that comes your way, you will be able to handle like a champ.

Set up your folder hour each morning, and I promise you – you WILL see a difference.
